Introduction page from Getting Pregnant 101

It is not really that easy for most couples to get a pregnancy started. This is true because the probability of a sperm and egg meeting up in the 1st month is very low, in fact less than 25% chance. Then the egg has to implant into the uterine wall. Many couples keep on having sex without any type of birth control and this is recommended by many doctors. The doctors recommend for a couple to have sex for 1 year to see if they get a pregnancy started before thinking they have fertility problems.

A note on Pregnancy=

As we said it is normal to not get pregnant the 1st month of unprotected sex. However, everybody has heard of couples who have had sex the very 1st time and only one time and have got pregnant. This is true and this can and does happen. I once seen an article written by someone else, (ref.) about how if you don't want to have a baby, how your chances go up for a pregnancy. And if you do want to have a baby at the proper time your chances go down.

It's like Murphy's Law = "If something can go wrong, it will go wrong" Or the opposite would be = "If you want something to go right, it will not happen." It's like what you want to happen or are trying for the chances of it happening will go down. So you should do everything that is natural and is known to increase your chances of getting a pregnancy started.
